Imagining health equity through Through Creativity

EPiSODE 3:
What if learning to fail on purpose was the exact thing that finally sets you free? And in a time when so much of life is planned, polished, and posted, what does it mean to improvise?
On this episode of The Imagine Podcast, Jenn sits down with Dr. Justin Gregg—scientist, best-selling author, improv facilitator, punk musician, and voice actor—to explore how Improv changes us from the inside out. Gregg explains Improv’s five powerful capacities—yes-and thinking, comfort with failure, uninhibition, real-world social confidence, and deep listening—and why these skills matter in an age of AI, anxiety, and curated online selves.
From dolphins and AI to hamsters, budgies, and packed family care, this funny and tender conversation might just nudge you to get on stage, or into your next brave conversation.

Dr. Justin Gregg is a science writer and researcher specializing in animal cognition. He earned his
PhD in psychology from Trinity College Dublin, studying dolphin social cognition, and is a Senior Research Associate with the Dolphin Communication Project as well as an adjunct professor at St. Francis Xavier University, where he lectures on animal behaviour and cognition. He is the best-selling author of If Nietzsche Were a Narwhal: What Animal Intelligence Reveals About Human Stupidity and, most recently, Humanish: What Talking to Your Cat or Naming Your Car Reveals About the Uniquely Human Need to Humanize. Alongside his scientific work, Justin is a trained Improv performer and teacher, a punk musician, and a voice actor, and he produces and hosts several podcasts, including The Dolphin Pod and Let’s Talk Antigonish with co-host Anuj Jain.
