About the Author & Illustrator: Sara avMaat grew up in New Brunswick. After establishing a career as a physiotherapist, she began attending art college part-time and eventually earned a BFA from NSCAD University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Now retired from physiotherapy—but not from art making—she lives with her partner, Beth, in Antigonish County, Nova Scotia. Hope Unleashed is her first comic.
