Healing Arts Community

Healing Ourselves and the World Through Art

At HARP, we live by Margaret Mead’s famous quote:

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”

That’s why we embrace the Imagine Movement here in the rural community of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada. Beginning in the early nineties in Illinois as “Imagine Chicago,” the Imagine Movement has spread to six continents and remains active in thousands of communities around the globe. The movement engages people of all ages and walks of life to apply creativity, the arts and appreciative inquiry to the social determinants of health equity within their home communities.

Learn how HARP’s founders were instrumental in creating both an in-person and virtual photo exhibit (see www.imagineantigonish.ca) as well as The People’s Photo Album and Imagine Antigonish: A Photographic Inquiry Into Health Equity.

Of course, we all know that real positive change never happens in a vacuum. It requires groups of committed citizens working together to imagine and mobilize win-all solutions. So we have a proposition for you.

What ideas do you have for positive change in your community? How would you apply the healing arts to improve your life and the lives of others?

And how can the gang at HARP help to inspire you?

Please share your ideas with us.
